Ashika sailing is a Switzerland-based sailing club established with the purpose of combining the adventure of ocean racing with humanitarianism.

With the presence of the two boats of ASHIKA sailing team at the numerous preparatory races in 2022,  2023, and the MINI TRANSAT 2023, we want to raise as much awareness for MSF as possible to achieve a multiplier effect with respect to the funds raised, for MSF.
OUR MISSION
In our eyes, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the most essential and efficient aid organisation to save lives and ease people’s suffering worldwide in crisis situations without taking sides.
Their actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence and impartiality.

Uroš Kraševac MiniTransat 2023 campaign by  Ashika sailing team supports MSF by raising money for MSF and expanding awareness for MSF.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Our project has roots deep in the Seascape sailing community, where recreational sailors are encouraged to expand their comfort zone and grow their sailing capabilities. After one of those regattas, Lukas and Uroš began to think and talk about a MiniTransat campaign for 2023.
Nine months later, the ASHIKA sailing team was born as a charitable association under Swiss law. We have two boats, ASHIKA I, SUI 16,  a Seascape 27 from 2013 and the MINI Proto #759, called ASHIKA II, that share their DNA in Manuard design.

Ashika means Sealion in Japanese.
UROŠ KRAŠEVAC
To spread awareness, we chose Uroš Kraševac – a rising Slovenian star in the offshore sailing scene. A sailor that embodies the power of the will and knows how to push himself beyond what others deem possible. His main goal is to compete and finish at the top of the Mini Transat, single-handed and without onboard assistance on a 6.50m boat.

MINI TRANSAT
regatta takes place every two years and represents a unique solo sailing challenge.

  • 4,000 nautical miles of ocean
  • two legs
  • Les Sables d’Olonne (FRA) – Santa Cruz de la Palma (ESP)
  • Santa Cruz de la Palma (ESP) – Saint François, Guadeloupe (FRA)

NO CONTACT WITH THE WORLD
Any contact with the outside world is forbidden. Sailors can use only what comes over the radio waves, so no fancy satellite images or GPS plotters.

NO ROOM FOR ERROR
The race is sailed with the smallest ocean racing sailboat of the mini 650 class, only 6.5 m long.

PARTNERSHIP WITH SEASCAPE
Seascape d.o.o the world’s leading company in developing, producing and selling sports cruising sailboats from 4-11 meters fully endorses the Ashika Sailing project. The company has roots in the MiniTransat, and since its founding in 2008, Seascape has produced and sold more than 1,300 sailboats under the Seascape and BENETEAU First and First SE (Seascape edition) brands.

We share the long-term vision of developing a new Mini650 to become a new reference in the most extreme class of ocean sailing.
